“Push Ups” sees Drake respond to a flurry of shots, but primarily those from Kendrick Lamar, Future & Metro Boomin, in the wake of “Like That,” their collaborative diss track against Drake.
The title, “Push Ups,” is a reference to a viral 2023 video of Lamar doing “prison push-ups,” while simultaneously addressing what Drake sees as a bunch of music industry subordinates attempting to “push up” to his level.
Two versions of the track leaked on April 13, 2024. On the same day, a teaser billboard & digital banner from Spotify hinted at a new song from Drake that may be associated with the diss track:
